Rubio’s Latest Email Hits Crist on Trust

Posted on 03 March 2010 by admin

Charlie Crist & Marco Rubio

Marco Rubio’s latest campaign email hits Governor Crist on “Trust”.  It’s titled Oh, you can trust Charlie Crst…   Snip it of email is below

Miami, FL – Lately, Governor Charlie Crist has seized on a new campaign buzz word: “trust,” which U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio has long insisted is what this election is all about – who Floridians can trust to go to Washington, stand up to the Obama-Reid-Pelosi agenda, and offer a clear alternative.

According to the Miami Herald, “Crist used the loaded word at least a dozen times in a 10-minute speech at a breakfast in Miami hosted by the Christian Family Coalition, an offshoot of the well-known Christian Coalition.” (Miami Herald, 2/27/10)

“Florida voters can trust Charlie Crist alright…to raise taxes, embrace Barack Obama on the stimulus and health care, and be completely untrustworthy on mainstream Republican values,” said Rubio for Senate spokesman Alex Burgos.  “Marco Rubio has said all along this race is about trust – it’s about who Floridians trust to go to Washington, stand up on principle to the current misguided agenda, and offer a clear alternative.

“Marco’s record and deeds prove he’s the only one in this race who can be trusted to do this, whereas Charlie Crist has proven time and time again he can only be trusted to stand with the big government, big spending agenda that is threatening America’s future.”

With Rubio in the center of Credit Card Gate one has to wonder about voters “TRUSTING” him as well.  Several sources pointed out that Rubio has other purchases that were made but put on other RPOF AMEX cardholder’s card.

While Speaker of the House Rubio had many opportunities to introduce legislation curtailing illegal immigration yet never did.  As for Rubio’s statement that voters can trust Crist to raise taxes and embrace the stimulus, isn’t this the pot calling the kettle black?  Rubio, you did after all say that you would accept stimulus funds as well or did you forget this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNg4gvWtAE8

When it comes to trusting Rubio or Crist voters are going to be left holding the bag.  At least Bob Smith is shooting straight these days and not double-talking.

Be sure to check out Marco Rubio’s website at http://www.marcorubio.com there is currently a money bomb planned for Marco on the 4th of July.  He needs support to beat Crist, who is the establishment’s candidate.

US Sen. Candidate Marion Thorpe sends out Press Release

Posted on 18 June 2009 by admin

Today Dr. Marion Thorpe’s campaign released a press release condemming the actions in South Carolina and Tennessee by GOP members.  One has to wonder why he is worried about putting fires out in other states rather than his own.  In a previous post we covered Dr. Thorpe’s last campaign problems.  Such as Bad Checks, and $40K in back child support.   Click here to read that post

Press Release sent out by Marion Thorpe’s Senate Campaign——–

In response to two recent events involving race-driven comments and actions and members of the GOP in South Carolina and Tennessee , U.S. Senate candidate (Florida) Dr. Marion Thorpe has released the following statement:

Thorpe states, “Categorically, I am calling on the Republican Leadership of the State of South Carolina and Tennessee to make amends for these matters immediately. As an African-American Republican who’s father defended this nation in the Air Force during the Korean War, I love the United States of America and will not sit idly while others spew divisive words and hurtful actions.”

The two occurrences are as follows:
- A South Carolina Republican activist has admitted to calling a gorilla that escaped from the Riverbanks Zoo on June 12, 2009 an “ancestor” of First Lady Michelle Obama.
- Within a day of the South Carolina matter, a Tennessee GOP staffer for Sen. Diane Black sent an email entitled, “Historical Keepsake Photo,” to an extensive list of recipients and co-workers which depicted all of our 44 presidents, except that President Obama’s portrait only contained two white eyes against a black background.

Dr. Marion Thorpe further states, “President Abraham Lincoln must surely be rolling over in his grave as some members of the 21st century GOP make a mockery of the abolitionist roots of our Party. Most assuredly, this is absolutely detrimental behavior emanating from a party that proclaims to have a big tent for everyone.”

Marion D. Thorpe, Jr. M.D., M.P.H., former Florida Agency for Health Care Administration Chief Medical Officer (CMO), officially entered the race for U.S. Senate in Florida in early January of 2009. This Senate seat is being vacated by Mel Martinez who has decided not to seek re-election in 2010

Marco Rubio is the Logical Choice

Posted on 17 June 2009 by admin

Many may not be aware that the US Senate race in Florida is rather full. You have Governor Charlie Crist who is the establishment’s favorite; Marco Rubio is the Conservatives go to guy and then two others that aren’t really fitting in to well.

Those other two are basically what this post is about.

Marion Thorpe Jr. is the states former chief medical officer, he also showed up on Rep. Alcee Hastings list of people I want to kill.  Dr. Thorpe came out claiming to be the “Conservative Choice” I have to admit I was even looking to support Dr. Thorpe.  That was until some interesting information surfaced that has been suppressed since then.

The information had to deal with two major areas for Dr. Thorpe.  The first was back child support in excess of $40,000 during his run against Rep. Alcee Hastings.  Next were two bounced checks both for $5,000 to his printer for the congressional campaign.  So one has to ask themselves is this someone I want to see in DC?

Next we move to Robert (Bob) Smith.  Bob seems like a good choice as well, if he can figure out what party he wants to be a member of.  You see Bob represented the state of New Hampshire as a Senator.  John Sununu beat him in 2002. But in 1999 he abandoned the party to attempt to run for President. He courted the Constitution party for their nomination.

2004 Smith endorsed John Kerry for President, 2008 Smith started courting the Constitution party again writing editorials that were posted on their website.  It is rumored he was seeking their nomination and they decided to select Chuck Baldwin instead.

So this brings us back to Marco Rubio.  Mr. Rubio seems to be a stand up candidate and a logical choice for office. Marco Rubio has championed a conservative, smaller-government approach to government while in Tallahassee, in contrast with other elements of the Republican-controlled state government led by Governor Charlie Crist, which are more moderate or centrist. Marco Rubio is seen as a politician in the mold of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who advocated more conservative approaches when he was governor of Florida for eight years, ending in 2007.

During 2007, Marco Rubio, championed a major overhaul of the Florida tax system. He wanted to reduce property taxes and decrease the size of government.

The question one has to ask is whom should we send to represent us?  Personally I would like to see Rubio.  Marco has proven himself to be a true conservative.

Jim Demint backs Marco Rubio in Florida Senate Race

Posted on 15 June 2009 by admin

Marco RubioSen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) is set to become the first sitting Republican senator to back Marco Rubio’s long-shot candidacy against Gov. Charlie Crist in the Florida Senate primary, the latest sign of conservative unrest over the Washington establishment’s support of the Florida Governor.

According to sources familiar with the talks, DeMint will throw his support behind Rubio, a 38-year-old former Florida House speaker who is positioning himself as the conservative alternative to Crist, in a Tuesday announcement in Washington.

The move breaks sharply from Republican leaders in Washington, who have solidly supported Crist, saying he’s in the best position to hold the Senate seat at a time when Republicans are desperate to hold at least 41 seats in the Senate — the minimum votes needed to sustain a filibuster.

Both DeMint’s and Rubio’s offices declined to comment.

But the fight over the Florida Senate race is a proxy battle over the future direction of the Republican Party. The battle pits conservatives pushing candidates who adhere strictly to conservative values even if they face a bigger risk of ultimately losing against more moderate candidates who may stray from the party’s bedrock principles but give the GOP better hope in the general election.

DeMint, leader of the Senate’s conservative Steering Committee, has long advocated pushing more conservative candidates, establishing a political action committee designed to do just that. This cycle he’s backed former GOP Rep. Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), who is seeking a second term in November 2010.

Since the National Republican Senatorial Committee gave the moderate Crist a coveted endorsement last month, some conservative activists have been sharply critical, but the NRSC says it gave the popular Crist its blessing knowing he’d have a much better shot in the general election than the lesser-known Rubio.
