Foamiran - one of the modern materials for creativity, which is rapidly gaining popularity among the craftsmen, who are interested in unusual techniques and types of needlework.
Foamiran is an artificial (synthetic) material, which in its properties is very similar to the properties of rubber, and therefore bearing one of its names - porous or foamed rubber. By the way, this material has a lot of names, for example, plastic suede, reveler, fom eva, foam - all these designations of the same foyamiran.
This material has a sheet shape.
The sizes of the sheets presented in the retail trade range from 20 * 30 cm (A4 format), to 50 * 50 cm or 60 * 70 cm. Packed can be either individually, when each separate sheet of large format is rolled into a loose bundle.
Either they are assembled into sets consisting of 5 to 10 sheets of different colors, most often packed in A4 format sheets.
The thickness of these sheets also varies from 0.5 mm (very thin almost semitransparent), up to 2 mm (dense, elastic). The most commonly used fumirane thickness is about 1 mm.
According to producer countries, fameiran is predominantly Iranian and Chinese, but you can occasionally come across a Korean-made product. The highest quality is considered to be the phoam produced in Iran.
There is a large number of colors Foamiran and manufacturers are constantly expanding this color range, creating and offering us more and more new shades.
Now you can find on sale even the fom is not only monophonic, but also with drawings.
In addition, foiuran happens with a different surface structure, the most common is smooth, but there is also a terry, very reminiscent of a terry towel and textured, for example, with a wavy surface, as well as glitter, that is, with a shiny surface layer.
All this variety of types of textures and colors creates an infinite creative potential for Foma.
Also, this versatility and variety of use is associated with the unusual properties of fomirane. One of the significant qualities is that it is very well heat-treated, after which it easily changes and accepts almost any shape that the craftsman gives to it, and keeps this shape almost unchanged.
Foamiran is famous for its ability to stretch (about 10% of its original size) after heating by any electrical appliances (household iron, hair iron, etc.) or even simply from the heat of the person's hands when working with it. But stretching it to infinity certainly does not work and with excessive effort it will still break. But, despite this small minus, yet the foiraman allows to give it a rather unusual, interesting and necessary form to the master.
The next property of fomiran, which gives him an advantage over other materials for creativity, is his resistance to water. For example, using this property of Foma, children's toys are made from it, intended for games during bathing. So for craftsmen this quality of fameiran is on hand, since the products made of it are not "afraid" of water and moisture, which again expands the scope of its application.
Another advantage of Foamir in front of many materials for needlework is that it can be painted, toned and altered in every way, complemented by its original coloring. And you can use for this purpose a variety of artistic materials - paints (acrylic, watercolor, gouache, etc.), pastel (oil, dry), markers, markers and much more.
Moreover, due to the fact that the structure of this rubber is porous, it absorbs well and retains the coloring substances, which allows to preserve the painting created by the master for a long time.
Various cutting tools are used to work with the fameer, since it is very easy to cut. It can be ordinary scissors and scissors with shaped blades, and even punch holes, which are usually used to cut various forms of paper, are also quite capable of cutting through the fame.
However, in order to glue details from foyamiran, the choice of types of glue is not so diverse, but rather limited. The usual PVA or glue-pencil does not do it. But the glue Moment or super-glue, or hot silicone - with ease will relate to each other the necessary details.
Despite its synthetic origin, foiaran is harmless and can often be found on sale in toy stores and goods for children's creativity.
Almost always opening a new packaging with this material can be felt quite a sharp unpleasant odor. But, as the manufacturer indicates, this smell quickly disappears and in the subsequent products from the fameiran do not smell.
As you can see, the properties of foamiran are such that you can use it very widely, as far as fantasy allows. And for this very reason, the kinds of creativity and needlework where this material is used are very diverse - this is floral (creating flowers and compositions and bouquets of them) and adjacent to it, making jewelry and accessories, as well as making toys and dolls and various decor elements interior and much more.
Therefore, we advise you, too, to try to work with the fameir. For sure you will like it very much, that in the end you will be able to achieve considerable success in a new kind of creativity chosen by you.
