The Adam Putnam you see at a political event around Congressional District 12 will not be the same Putnam that represents you in D.C. or Tallahassee. Rep. Putnam has aligned himself with The Ripon Society. They bill themselves as a Republican Think tank that represents MODERATE & PROGRESSIVE POLICY. Notable present and past members of this organization include Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, and Steven LaTourette all of which tend to lean to the liberal side.
The problem? Adam generally bills himself as a conservative in his home district. His votes in D.C. speak louder than those empty words though. Putnam has voted to expand the size and scope of the Federal government time and time again. Just recently he voted in favor of the Patriot Act, Bank Bailout, FDA Food Control Bill, and Real ID.
The issues that were listed were just 3 of the many votes that Adam has cast to increase the size of Government. You can see many more here

One look at the website for the organization shows their advisory board which Putnam sits on. Look at the other members of it as well.

I see they are using Teddy Roosevelt’s type of Progressivism image of trust busting and carrying a big stick. However, Adam Putnam big government voting looks more like Woodrow Wilson Progressivism. If memory serves, didn’t Teddy Roosevelt leave the Republican Party and form the 3rd Party “Bull Moose”.
