It is troubling to me that for the vast majority of people this does become a party affiliation issue. We take the word of our elected politicans as well as the extremely bias media because very few of them will break this almost 2000 page bill down to some thing we can understand and have the time to form our own opinions, unswayed by the misrepresented truth of what the contents are. Do we really believe that the two parties are trying to create the perfect health care plan for us, if so then where is the compromise. Why are the votes split by party lines, seriously! The costs of the health care system is a result of :
                                                                           Lawsuits which benefit lawyers\(tortreform)
Who pays there fees we do through premiums for our health care
Who protects the lawyers rights, politicians alot of which are former lawyers

To me reform must start here. The laws which allow costs to escalate. This bill does not address this to my knowledge

The new health care bill was read. Listen. Funded abortions(the president is a liar), higher taxes, cuts on medicare, health panel, no option to purchase our own insurance. Now how does that sound. I am
on medicare and it is sufficient. We are both disabled and we cannot afford more taxes and cuts on medicare. It is unconstitutional to force Americans to get government health care. Please recognize that the American people cannot afford anything more. This really saddens me.

It is astonishing to see the amount of misinformation in that matter.
The Healthcare reform is about getting Medicare back on track and to make it
effective. And people are hollering about "Keeping the government out of Medicare!" Wow! Isn't that something! Medicare IS a government run program that serves as the public element of healthcare.
If people would have shown such an interest, when the government actually mislead it's people - as it did under former President Bush and lead the nation into a war under false pretenses - we all would be better off now.
But no - because the new President is black every rumor - and might it be as abstruse as the Birther movement are being taken for real, whereas facts don't matter a thing. Politicians like Palin stoop so low, to spread outright lies (Death Panels) to scare the heck out of the popultion for their own gain. That is what is unamerican and anti democratic.

Our medical care is life or death. Going to a park or the library is not. We can live with out parks or libraries. As far as the school systems go I pay for my children to go to private school at a per child cost far less than the government spends. The governnment should be able to provide basic services like roads police & fire services that is not socialism. When your doctor has to type your information into a computer & a government board decides his course of treatment for you that is socialism.

I agree there are problems in the current health care system people shouldn't be dropped for no reason, there should be some type of coverage available for pre existing conditions, there needs to be affordable options & so on. However, we do not need gov't run healthcare in order to make these changes. I also have a health savings account, the tax credit for HSA's that Republicans were proposing would have covered the total cost of my family plan annually. There are simpler solutions. The key thing to be aware of is the truth behind this plan. It IS to take over healthcare it will not .."utilize the money that is already being wasted to cover people who aren't covered." Those are just nice sounding words Obama knows you want to hear so you will sit back & allow him to pull the wool over your eyes.

No disrespect to you Jim & I am sorry about your cousin, if this plan passes there will be many more people that loose their jobs. I think the other person was alluding to the fact that these politicians keep raising taxes & this causes companies to go out of business or cut jobs because they can't afford to pay the tax. As a perfect example in this healthcare bill, even the revised plan that the blue dogs are coming up with, employers will be forced to absorb the cost of the gov't health care for their employees if they do not provide a health plan. However they want to word it tax, fee etc. if the companies can't afford to pay it people will loose jobs. I am sure your cousin would rather have a job with no health benefits than no job. and if we simply isolated the problems & fixed them for the people in the gaps rather than having the government take over another sector of our shrinking free market economy she could have both!

Another, big lie I want you to be aware of & that is that "you can keep your current health plan if your happy with it". Regardless of how you feel about insurance companies they are businesses with balance sheets they can't opperate in the red with out going out of business. (Unless you are taken over by the gov't AIG) How then can insurance companies compete with the government who can operate in a deficit & has the ability to print money. The plan is to eventually force out other options & end up a government run system.

Big lie number three, "COVERAGE" doesn't equal "CARE"!

One last point, You wrote..."An additional National Health Care Plan is not going to hurt you. They had the same arguments about Medicare and how many of you are going to refuse it at 65?"

Why not ask us if we are going to refuse social security as well? Yet another big government plan to take care of us that we have been paying taxes into to support that will be bankrupt long before I would ever have the option to refuse it!

I pray you see the truth before it's too late!

Tim this article has nothing to do with Tobaco Tax or the energy bill. Your own Adam Putnam passed the Food Bill that is horrible for a Republican and Republicans praise Adam. Get rid of NAFTA if you want to go through all of that. Republican leaders talk out of Both sides of their mouths, they say one thing and then do another, so do Democrats which is why I am glad I belong to neither party. I have a cousin who lost her job of 40 years at Hava Tampa. Why don't you talk to people on Medicare and see if they want to give it up, I haven't met any who want to. You are missing the point. It isn't a takeover of health care it is utilizing the money that is already being wasted to cover people who aren't covered.

One of the biggest problems with the cost of Health Care is the amount of waste and inefficiency in the system. Where is the evidence that anything the government has anything to do with is efficient and without waste. Everything the government does is wasteful and inefficient. Medicare is government health care. It is horribly inefficient and expensive. Nothing good can come from the federal government trying to fix anything. If you want a government plan then let the states do it. Massachusetts isn't having much luck getting their system working.

Obama is very seductive. Don't listen to his words. Judge him by his actions and his results. How's that stimulus package working out? How did the tobaco restrictions and additional tax work out for Hav A Tampa? Tell me how you like your energy bill if he is able to pass the Cap and Trade legislation.
